The Dorper was developed in South Africa with the crossing of the Dorset Horn Sheep with the Black Head Persian. Since its first beginnings in 1954 the Dorper has grown to over 9 million sheep in South Africa alone.
Bulbarli Stud was founded in October 1996 with the implants of Elite Dorper Genetics from South Africa. Being the oldest Stud in Australia it has been able to keep a high standard of genetics being available for the Australian and overseas market. This was also brought out with the Grand Champion Dorper Ewe at the 2001 Perth Royal Show.The Stud has exported many embryos and live animals around the world and is getting recognition for the quality of its stock. Being the largest Ewe flock in Australia we can give a variety of genetics for our extended pool.
